Dedicated to empowering change for the society of today and generations of tomorrow
We’re not just a part of communities — we play an active role in helping to shape them. Wherever we are in the world, we create a culture of giving — to enrich the lives of those around us. Whether it’s education initiatives, looking after our planet, delivering basic needs, or providing relief in emergencies, we are passionate about making a difference. We work together with like-minded partners towards these goals. Our people are at the heart of this — proud to offer their skills and expertise. Together, we are deeply dedicated to empowering change — for the society of today and generations of tomorrow.
Our corporate social responsibility agenda focuses on two impact areas: education and environment. Because of our global reach, we can implement these priorities across regions, resulting in a tangible impact.
For decades, our deep dedication to inclusion has inspired us on issues that affect life opportunities, such as economic and educational inequality and the lack of sustained support. In close cooperation with experts, we identify where fresh ideas and energy are needed. Our goal is to find solutions that enable real progress – by using head, heart and hand in equal measure. At Deutsche Bank, we are committed to shaping the future with our people and our partners; we are a community deeply dedicated to empowering change – for the society of today and generations of tomorrow.
Education Education
We are dedicated to helping people reach their full potential. Our education initiatives aim to provide the knowledge and skills to navigate the rapidly changing world and achieve personal growth. Since 2013 we have reached over 6 million people in more than 28 countries.
One of our priorities in the impact area of education is financial literacy; financial skills are essential for personal independence. Our projects help school students, job starters and entrepreneurs take ownership of their financial future. In the UK, for example, the Deutsche Bank Awards for Creative Enterprises have been educating entrepreneurs on how to achieve sustainable success with their creative ventures for more than 30 years now.
Education is also fundamental for an open and inclusive society where everyone can prosper. With populism, extremism and discrimination becoming more pervasive in many societies, it is crucial to strengthen an open dialogue and foster tolerance and empathy, especially among the young. We are part of innovations like the Dialog Leben (‘Dialogue in action’) project in Germany, which goes into schools to teach students about the importance of freedom and equality and to encourage them to stand up against hate speech and prejudice.
Environment Environment
Protection of the natural environment is essential for the well being of people as well as the planet. Our projects and partnerships target the most urgent local priorities in every region, from the preservation of forests, farmland, and urban green spaces to the health of oceans and coastlines, rivers, and wetlands.
Tree planting is part of a global strategy to help communities become more climate resilient. Since 2010 Deutsche Bank volunteers have planted over half a million trees worldwide. We also support projects that use education to bring home the wider importance of intact ecosystems. The Billion Oyster Project in the US, for example, engages local schools in its mission to bring oyster reefs back to New York Harbor, while our work with WWF Italy raises awareness of the need to preserve marine biodiversity to sustain the communities connected to the Mediterranean Sea’s blue economy.
Employee Engagement Employee Engagement
Our people are the backbone of our commitment. They give their time, skills and expertise as volunteers. They are donors and fundraisers too and we help them give more to causes close to their hearts through donation campaigns, matching schemes and payroll giving. We are proud of their commitment: one in four employees worldwide volunteered in 2024, collectively investing more than 215,000 hours of their time.

How we deliver basic welfare, improve essential infrastructure and provide relief in emergencies
At Deutsche Bank, we are dedicated to providing support when and where it matters most. Our work with partners builds stronger communities in society. As well as meeting immediate needs, we look for long-term solutions to systemic issues such as poverty, unemployment, hunger, and homelessness. At times of natural disasters or humanitarian crises, we assist relief and reconstruction efforts through targeted programs, donations, and grants. Our employees provide additional support both by volunteering and by donating money. In recent years, our relief efforts have focused – among other things – on helping the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey, Syria and Morocco, and on people affected by the war in Ukraine.
