The involvement of employees magnifies the impact of our efforts to help shape equitable and inclusive communities. Across the world, our people volunteer their time and offer their knowledge and skills to help social projects and partners succeed. We encourage volunteering through paid leave and fundraising activities that employees can get involved in . Our employees find the experience rewarding on many levels: while helping others they learn and grow on a personal level and get to know their colleagues better too.

Our social days are a popular volunteering activity globally, where employees come together as a team to support local charities and community groups. In Germany alone in 2023, employees took part in more than 650 of these social days. Some have become firm fixtures in the diary. Since 2001, employees in South Africa have packed more than 500,000 meals to feed pre-school children in township communities as part of an annual team challenge organised by Rise Against Hunger. Our involvement with Whitechapel Mission in the UK also goes back many years. Employees help prepare and serve hot meals at this day centre for London’s marginalised and homeless population.
Our people also donate money and take part in fundraisers. Our payroll giving and matched giving programmes help them give more to causes close to their hearts. In the UK, the Charity of the Year programme is a two-year partnership working with a pioneering charity aiming to address society’s most pressing issues. Since 1999, the programme has raised over 29 million pounds and has enabled strategic growth for dozens of charities thanks to skills, knowledge and expertise offered by Deutsche Bank employees.

Fondazione Deutsche Bank Italia also relies on employee participation. Through a popular crowdfunding initiative, employees of Deutsche Bank Italy can recommend projects for financial support from the foundation. This crowd-sourcing concept is hugely popular. More than 150 charities have been nominated. Five are chosen annually and receive grants of 20,000 euros to assist their work.
We are proud of the deep dedication of our Deutsche Bank community around the world. In 2024, one in four employees worldwide volunteered with us. Together, they dedicated more than 215,000 hours of their time to enrich the lives of those around us.
