Deutsche Bank and representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) engaged in a frank discussion today about topical sustainability issues, including climate change, human rights and arms financing. The aim of this exchange of views is to gain a better understanding of this important stakeholder group and its arguments as well as to conduct a fair and lively debate.
Today also saw Deutsche Bank’s new Sustainability Council meet for the first time. It was set up in 2017 as a Corporate Governance initiative, and its members are experienced leaders from the business divisions and infrastructure functions. It advises the Management Board on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and will constantly develop and implement the bank’s approach to sustainability.
The bank will also be hosting a panel discussion entitled “How is the financial industry helping climate protection targets to be met?” at its QuartierZukunft in Berlin during Earth Week from April 16th to 22nd. The participants will be Nicole Röttmer (Board Member of 2º Investing Initiative Deutschland and the founder & CEO of The CO-Firm GmbH), Karsten Neuhoff (Head of the Climate Policy Department, Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung e.V.) and two bank employees: Karin Dohm, Head of Government & Regulatory Affairs, and Markus Müller from the Chief Investment Office team in Wealth Management.
