1989 until today
The nineties were influenced by additional acquisitions and the establishment of subsidiaries abroad, in no small part against the background of political transformations in Eastern Europe and fundamental reforms in the bank's organizational structure.

Starting with the acquisition of the British merchant bank Morgan Grenfell in 1989 global expansion culminated in the integration of the New York investment bank Bankers Trust, which opened the American market up to Deutsche Bank. Since the millennium the bank has been able to expand its reach in emerging markets like China, India and Russia.

Today Deutsche Bank is a leading global investment bank with a strong and profitable private clients franchise. Its businesses are mutually reinforcing. A leader in Germany and Europe, the bank is continuously growing in North America, Asia and key emerging markets. Most of the bank's staff work outside Germany.

1998 Acquisition of Crédit Lyonnais Belgium
1999 Acquisition and integration of Bankers Trust. It is the largest entry a German bank has ever made into the U.S. financial market.
Retail and small-business customers transferred from Deutsche Bank to its direct-banking subsidiary "Bank 24", which is simultaneously renamed "Deutsche Bank 24"
2000 Cancellation of the planned merger with Dresdner Bank
2001 Deutsche Bank introduces a new Group structure which is focused on two customer-oriented groups: The Corporate and Investment Bank Group Division combines all activities in the field of "Sales and Trading", "Corporate Finance" and "Transaction Banking". The Private Clients and Asset Management Group Division combines the business fields "Personal Banking", "Private Banking" and "Asset Management".
On 3 October 2001, trading in the Deutsche Bank share starts on the New York Stock Exchange
2002 Deutsche Bank concludes the purchase of the U.S. asset manager Zurich Scudder Investments
Deutsche Bank 24, Private Banking, parts of Corporate Banking, and the online broker maxblue are combined under the umbrella of the Deutsche Bank brand name in the new corporate division "Private & Business Clients"
The new “Private Wealth Management” will provide exclusive global coverage for high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals
2003 Deutsche Bank acquires the Swiss Private Bank Rued Blass & Cie
2004 Deutsche Bank opens a branch office in Beijing (representative office since 1981)
2005 Deutsche Bank becomes sole owner of Bender Securities (Istanbul)
2006 Complete acquisition of the Russian investment bank United Financial Group (UFG)
